Entertainment is important to everyone. Even when you are on a tight budget or have tons of obligations to meet, you still need to spend some quality time with yourself and/or your loved ones. How to do this though?
Ways to save money on entertainment
1. Theater
Watching plays is one of the best form of entertainment. Most theaters offer discounted performances on certain days of the week, so what you can do is give them a call to check which those days are. Participating in a variety of contests can also help you win free tickets to some plays.
2. DVDs
Renting DVDs from your local DVD store is a great way to save money on entertainment, as it will come a lot cheaper for you than it would be if you had purchased tickets for the movie theater and had paid for the overpriced popcorn. Make some homemade popcorn, grab a soft pillow and enjoy your favorite movie from the comfort of your own home.
3. Redecorate your room
For those who love to change and are not afraid to experiment with new things, redecorating can be a great form of entertainment and save them money as well. From painting one wall a different color to adding a beautiful picture to your light-switch cover and from adding ruffle to your pillow cases to putting together a variety of candles by size or colour, it is guaranteed that you will have lots of fun and spend a little if you use what you already have at home.
4. Attend a poetry reading
Attending a poetry reading is another great way to save money on entertainment. Poetry readings are offered for free, all you have to pay for is the drink (if you decide to get a drink). Listen to a variety of wonderful poems, or read your own poems and meet new people who will share the same interests with you.
5. Visit the local library
A local library may be the paradise you were looking for. A variety of magazines and books are offered for free at local libraries and wait for you to read them over there.
6. College campuses
Most college campuses offer great plays which you can attend for only a few dollars, as well as free lectures on interesting subjects. Conduct Google research or call them for detailed information.
7. Museums
Most museums offer free entrance once a week . Other museums offer entrance at a lower price on certain days of the week. Check your local paper’s entertainment section for more information and take advantage of this great opportunity.
8. Art gallery openings
Check your local publications to be informed about new art gallery openings. They are usually offered for free and there is usually some free wine and food too. You will get to see some great works of art and meet interesting people as well.
Saving money on entertainment is easy to be accomplished provided that you are willing to explore your options and try new things.
