Cool martial arts flick! Even though it’s a movie and it’s purpose is to entertain, it does show the military advantage the modern, industrialized Japanese had over the then-still medieval Chinese. A European analogy would be a nation using swords and armor against another who uses automatic rifles. Ouch.
Of course, these “medieval” fighters…can fly…

this is my 3rd time watching this movie, though it has a sad fun but it shows how we dont have all bad people in the world, some people will fight till death for what they beleive to be true, one of the best kungfu movies of all the time.

Good movie with alot of action from beginning to end. The ending produced an excellent fight scene. I enjoyed it very much.

Sun Yat Sen later led the ending of the Manchu Dynasty, and whatever became and becomes of China, this movie reflects that originating mythos.
I was stoked to see Sammo, “I am only a guard”, make an appearance.

After that war, what was known to the west as “the boxer rebellion” was a continuing effort by kung fu or wu shu martial arts-trained people to remove foreign domination.
That one has been given a different spin by the foreigners who shot them down, and we sure have seen that before!

@BMOCakaOxy the subtitles reflect the original Chinese, more formal seeming than the pretty good dubbing language. Sounds like he gathered a lot from the spaghetti western genre.
Any of yu guys ever see the “samurai” flicks we watched as kids in Hawaiian rural theaters in the 1960s ? they were awesome. The Chinese kung fu movies always used flying wires, wild head chopping and Peking Opera acrobatics. Sammo continued the legendary dramas, as did Jackie Chan, and both developed lots of humor

the screenplay may be pretty wonky and the camera editing may super speed and slow-mo the fights a bit too much sometimes, BUT the ACTION looks AWESOME!!! I thought I was familiar with Sammo’s works, but apparently I never crossed swords with this one until now. I think should rank as almost as good as Eastern Condors and Millionare’s Express, which should say a lot. Even though the script leaves much to be desired, the action satisfies. Should’ve been given an extra hour of runtime.
